Study Pace Timer:
Master Your Exam Time Management

04/2020 - 07/2020

BACKGROUND Every year, over 3.5 million individuals from 140 countries and regions worldwide take the IELTS test. China alone has 94 test centers.

The IELTS test comprises four sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The listening, reading, and writing sections have strict time limits. As a result, efficiently managing time for each section poses a significant challenge for test-takers.

INTERVIEW To understand the needs of the student demographic, I interviewed multiple student users. Specifically, I sought to understand which time intervals were most frequently used during exams and whether they believed a timer could positively impact their performance. I found that their primary requirements for a timer include: portability, user-friendliness, clear time display, and an element of fun or engagement.

A countdown timer can remind students how much time remains; it allows students to gauge their efficiency in completing a task; accomplishing a task within a set time frame can unleash a student's potential; and consistently using a countdown can help students quantify their progress*.( *Feedback from the interview) COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

Through competitive analysis, I've discovered that the current timing devices on the market do not meet the needs of student users.

Therefore, I want to design a timer specifically for students.
